Regression: Channel tag automatically selected when deploying

I've noticed on a recent version of OD (we're on 4.1.8), the channel tag is automatically filled in on the Tenant section of the deploy screen. This is a serious problem for us, because it means that all the tenants that match the tag are selected by default. This can be easily overlooked and means that you might deploy to some tenants you don't mean to.

I still think it's very non-obvious that when I select a tenant name, this is OR'd with those selected by tags rather than AND'ed

It also doesn't help that the actual selected tenants is "below the fold" on the bottom of the screen...but the "deploy" button is at the top. This means that I'm unlikely to notice if the actual selected tenants differs from what I think it should be.

    Hello Kyle,

Thanks for getting in touch. This was an explicit change in 4.1.8 that was made because many customers are deploying to multiple tenants and wanted that process streamlined.

We appreciate your workflow is different and after a team chat this morning, we'll be revisiting it again, to come up with a better solution to cater for both types of users. We've raised an issue so you can follow along

To help us out would you mind making your case on the issue, I'll link to this ticket there, but would be good to explain what you're trying to achieve with tenant tags if you're still going to be deploying to tenants individually. Because from our perspective we primary consider the tags needing to be used to speed up deploying to many.

Thanks, I've attached our workflow to the GH issue. I hope this explains what we're trying to do. As I said in the issue, I'd be happy to hear if I'm mis-using a feature.

    Thanks for that.

Oops I was meant to link you to the new one, I'll just link to your comment on that one.

Don't worry your comments are there and captured, and that's helpful. You can follow along with 4166 when we start it to see what outcome we end up with.

Hi, I am wondering if there has been any recent developments associated with this issue. I saw that in the most recent release of OD this issue was fixed

I thought it was notable because it is essentially the problem I'm having: prefilling channels cause you to deploy to more tenants than you expect, but just a different workflow to get there.

    Hi Kyle,

The issue you raised is still in our queue, and not yet resolved. The one you saw fixed 4322 was only about a bug in the URL navigation code.

It seems like the is now closed. Does this mean it won't be fixed?

If so, it seems like I'm alone in the world with this problem, which makes me think i'm doing something wrong. Is there any chance I could meet with someone from support where I can demonstrate my workflow to see if there is a way we can change something to fit with OD's intended practices better?

    Hi Kyle,

I've commented on the issue, would be good to keep the discussion going there as it has more of the context:
